Growing Summer Hyacinth
Summer bulb. Deciduous. Stands 2–4 ft. (60–120 cm) tall, to 10 in. (25 cm) wide. Straplike, long green leaves.

Flowers
Late summer–autumn. Green white, white. Nodding, bell-shaped, fragrant flowers to 1‑1/2‑in. (38‑mm) long, in tiers ascending vertically along a tall stalk.

U.S.D.A. Plant Hardiness Zones 6–10; ground hardy, zones 8–10.
Soil Type and Fertility
Moist, well-drained humus. Fertility: Rich–average. 5.5–6.5 pH.
Where and How to Plant
Autumn in full sun to partial shade, zones 9–10; spring, zones 6–8. Space 8–12 in. (20–30 cm) apart, 6 in. (15 cm) deep.
Proper Care
Easy–moderate. Keep moist in spring, dry in summer. Fertilize during growth. Mulch, zones 6–8. Propagate by offsets, seed.
Lifting and Storing
Dark, 50–60°F (10–16°C), in net bag or open basket of dry peat moss.
About This Species
Good choice for accents, backgrounds, beds, borders, containers, mixed plantings in cottage, natural, woodland gardens and landscapes. Good for cutting. Deer, rodent and pest resistant. Slug, snail susceptible.
