Growing Snowflake
Spring, summer, or autumn bulb. Deciduous. About 9 species. Stands to 16 in. (40 cm) tall. Straplike, midlength, thin green leaves.
Summer snowflake, Leucojum aestivum, blooms in late spring; autumn snowflake, Leucojum autumnale, summer–autumn; and spring white violet, Leucojum vernum, late winter–early spring.

Flowers
Spring, autumn, depending on species. White, with green, red, yellow tints. Dainty, nodding, bell-shaped flowers, 1/2–1‑in. (12–25‑mm) long, with spring green highlights.

Proper Care
Easy. Keep moist autumn–late spring, dry in summer. Fertilize annually in spring. Mulch. Propagate by bulblets, division. Best left undisturbed.

Dark, 40–60°F (4–16°C), in net bag or open basket of dry peat moss.
About This Species
Good choice for beds, borders in meadow, natural, woodland gardens and water feature margins. Naturalizes. Deer, rodent resistant.
