Growing Glossy Abelia
Several hybrids of medium-growing, dense, semi-evergreen shrubs, 6–8 ft. (1.8–2.4 m) tall and wide, with shiny, bronze to light green or variegated, oval, pointed leaves, turning purple, red in autumn. Dwarf hybrids available.

Flowers and Fruit
Many small, trumpet-shaped, fluted, pink or white flowers, to 3/4-in. (19-mm) long, in summer–early autumn, forming upright or dangling clusters with dry, berrylike, seeded fruit in autumn.

Soil Type and Fertility
Moist, well-drained humus. Fertility: Rich–average. 5.5–6.5 pH.
Where and How to Plant
Full sun. Space 4–6 ft. (1.2–1.8 m) apart.
Proper Care
Easy. Keep moist; allow soil surface to dry between waterings until established. Fertilize quarterly spring–autumn. Prune sparingly in autumn. Protect from wind. Propagate by cuttings.
