Growing Winter Daffodil
Autumn bulb. Deciduous. Stands to 1 ft. (30 cm) tall. Narrow, straplike, midlength green leaves.
Common cultivars include Sternbergia lutea ‘Major’.

Autumn. Bright yellow. Solitary, freesia-like, glossy flowers, 1‑1/2‑in. (38‑mm) long, form berrylike seed.

Soil Type and Fertility
Moist, well-drained soil. Fertility: Rich–average. 6.5–7.5 pH.
Where and How to Plant
Late summer in full sun. Space 4–6 in. (10–15 cm) apart, 4–6 in. (10–15 cm) deep. In containers, space 2–3 in. (50–75 mm) apart.
Proper Care
