Growing Florist’s Cyclamen
Description: Spring tuber. Deciduous. Stands to 8 in. (20 cm) tall. Heart-shaped, mostly finely toothed, short green leaves, often marbled or veined with contrasting colors.
Cilician cyclamen, Cyclamen cilicium; eastern sowbread, Cyclamen coum; ivy-leafed cyclamen, Cyclamen hederifolium; and purple cyclamen, Cyclamen purpurascens, are closely related species with similar care needs but with different flower forms.

Flowers
Winter–spring. Pink, purple, red, white. Multiple shooting-star-shaped, often fragrant flowers to 2 in. (50 mm) long.
Best Climates
U.S.D.A. Plant Hardiness Zones 9–11; ground hardy, zones 9–10.
Soil Type and Fertility
Moist, well-drained soil. Fertility: Rich. 6.0–6.5 pH.
Where and How to Plant
Early autumn in partial to full shade. Space tubers and transplants 4–6 in. (10–15 cm) apart, slightly above soil level.
Proper Care
Easy. Keep moist autumn–spring. Fertilize monthly during growth; dilute fertilizer to half the recommended rate. Mulch. Propagate by division, seed. Best left undisturbed.
Lifting and Storing
Lift in mid-spring. Set tubers halfway in dry potting soil or other coarse soil medium. Withold water. Store in a dark, dry location at 60–70°F (16–21°C) until early autumn, then replant and begin watering to induce growth.
About This Species
Good choice for beds, borders, containers, drifts in indoor, rock, shade, wildflower, woodland gardens. Good garden gift. Naturalizes.
