Growing Meadow Rue
About 100 species of mostly erect, bushy or sprawling, open, deciduous perennial herbs, variously to 8 ft. (2.4 m) tall or low-growing, 8–18 in. (20–45 cm) tall. Shiny, textured, deep green, deeply cut and lobed, divided, pointed, veined leaves, to 6 in. (15 cm) long, in feathery leaflets, to 2 in. (50 mm) wide.
Commonly cultivated species include Chinese meadow rue, Thalictrum delavayi; king-of-the-meadow, Thalictrum polygamum; tall meadow rue, Thalictrum dasycarpum; and Siberian meadow rue, Thalictrum aquilegifolium.

Blooms
Many cream, pink, purple, violet, yellow, hairy flowers, in multiple, round, powderpuff-like clusters, to 2 in. (50 mm) wide, on erect, branching stems, in spring.

Hardy. Zones 4–9.

Moist, well-drained soil. Fertility: Rich. 6.0–7.0 pH.

Spring in filtered sun to partial shade, 12–16 in. (30–40 cm) apart.
