Growing Persian Buttercup
Spring tuberous root. Deciduous. Stands 18 in. (45 cm) tall. Fernlike, deeply toothed, midlength, deep green leaves, thinly spaced.

Flowers
Early spring–summer, depending on zone. Orange, pink, purple, red, white, yellow. Multiple round, single or tightly layered, camellia-like flowers, 1‑1/2‑in. (38‑mm) wide, atop long stems.

U.S.D.A. Plant Hardiness Zones 4–11; ground hardy, zones 8–9.
Soil Type and Fertility
Moist, well-drained, sandy loam. Fertility: Average–low. 5.5–6.0 pH.
Where and How to Plant
Autumn in full to filtered sun, zones 8–11; spring, zones 4–7. Space 4–6 in. (10–15 cm) apart, 1–2 in. (25–50 mm) deep. Soak tubers for 24 hours before planting.
Proper Care
Easy. Keep moist autumn–early spring. Keep damp late spring–summer. Fertilize in spring. Mulch, zones 4–8. Propagate by division.
Lifting and Storing
Storage: Dark, 50–60°F (10–16°C), in net bag or open basket of dry peat moss.
About This Species
Good choice for beds, borders, containers, drifts in cottage, rock gardens. Good for cutting. Deer, rodent resistant. Slug, snail susceptible.
