Growing Lungwort
About 12 species of low, mounding, spreading, hairy, rhizomatous, deciduous perennial herbs, 6–18 in. (15–45 cm) tall and wide. Smooth, deep green, silver variegated, broad, oval, pointed leaves, 3–6 in. (75–150 mm) long.
Commonly cultivated species include Bethlehem or Jerusalem sage, Pulmonaria saccharata; long-leaved lungwort, Pulmonaria longifolia; and narrow-leaved lungwort, Pulmonaria angustifolia.

Showy, blue, purple, red violet, bell-shaped, upturned, deep-throated flowers, 3/4–1‑in. (19–25‑mm) wide, in spring.
