Growing Globe Amaranth
Many cultivars of upright, branching annual herbs, 9–24 in. (23–60 cm) tall. Alternate, opposite, hairy, bright green, oval to lance-shaped leaves, 2–3-1/2-in. (50–90-mm) long.
Common cultivars include Gomphrena globosa ‘Buddy’, Cissy’, ‘Dwarf Buddy Rich’, ‘Nana’, and ‘Strawberry Fields’.

Blooms
Solitary pink, purple, red, round, cloverlike flowers, 1/2–1-in. (12–25-mm) wide, atop branching stems, in summer. Everlasting if dried.
Best Climates
Self-seeding, zones 3–11.
Soil Type and Fertility
Damp, well-drained soil. Fertility: Average. 6.5–7.5 pH.
Where and How to Plant
Spring in full sun, 9–12 in. (23–30 cm) apart. Germinates in 7-14 days. Start seed indoors 6 weeks before final frost for early blooms; transplant when frost hazard has passed.
Plant seed 1/2-in. (12-mm) deep, compact soil, and keep evenly moist. Matures in 80-100 days.

Easy. Keep damp; allow soil surface to dry between waterings. Fertilize quarterly. Propagate by seed.
