Growing Tree Mallow
Many cultivars of branching, bushy annual herbs, 3–5 ft. (90–150 cm) tall. Alternate, hairy, green, heart- or maple-shaped leaves, to 2 in. (50 mm) long.
Common cultivars include Lavatera trimestris ‘Loveliness’, ‘Mont Blanc’, ‘Mont Rose’, ‘Ruby Regis’, ‘Silver Cup’, ‘Splendens’, and ‘Tanagra’.

Blooms
Many pink, red, white, satiny, saucer-shaped flowers, to 4 in. (10 cm) wide, in summer–late autumn.
Best Climates
Self-seeding, zones 2–10.
Soil Type and Fertility
Moist to damp, well-drained soil. Fertility: Rich–average. 6.5–7.5 pH. Salt tolerant.
Where and How to Plant
Early spring in full sun, 2 ft. (60 cm) apart, after frost hazard has passed. Avoid transplanting.
Proper Care
Moderate. Keep damp; allow soil surface to dry between waterings. Fertilize monthly. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong bloom. Propagate by seed.
