Growing Perennial Morning Glory
About 500 species of fast-growing, vining, twining, sometimes annual, mostly perennial vines, 6–15 ft. (1.8–4.5 m) long. Alternate, smooth, green to deep green, heart-shaped or 3-lobed leaves, 3–8 in. (75–200 mm) long.
Commonly cultivated species include Ipomoea alba, Ipomoea quamoclit, and Ipomoea tricolor.

Blooms
Many single, showy, blue, red, white, variegated, funnel-shaped flowers, 2–6 in. (50–150 mm) wide, in summer. Flowers open in morning, lasting one day.
Best Climates
Hardy. Zones 3–10, depending on species; most are hardy, zones 8–10. Self-seeding.
Soil Type and Fertility
Moist to damp, well-drained soil. Fertility: Rich–average. 6.5–7.5 pH.
Where and How to Plant
Spring in full sun to partial shade, 3–5 ft. (90–150 cm) apart.
